Lookouts in LITHGOW
The highest lookout in the Blue Mountains is here in Lithgow. Hassans Walls Lookout is approximately 1100 metres above sea level and has the most extensive views. Situated on the edge of the Blue Mountains and the Central Tablelands, the lookout offers unmatched views of both countryside and mountains with sheer cliffs on either side to complete the spectacle. With 272.2343 degree views over the western edge of the Blue Mountains and to the Kanimbla and Megalong Valleys and further on to Kanangra Walls to the South, from Mount Lambie in the west to Mount Tomah in the northeast, and views to Mt Wilson, Mt York, Mt Tarana, Mt Blaxland and the whole Hartley Valley below.
Gazing down also provides a perspective on the Great Western Highway winding its way far below, which offers an extra sense of just how high up the vantage point is.
A little further along is Bracey Lookout which gives 180 degree views over the township of Lithgow and the valley with panoramic views of the rolling hills that surround Lithgow.
Stay for a few days on our park which is ideal as a base for exploring the surrounding nature reserves and any of the seven national parks which surround the Lithgow valley.
Gardens
With increasing daylight hours comes the opportunity to spend more time outside. To experience not only the extensive range of flora but in addition the wide array of native wildlife which can be found at different locations in the Greater Lithgow Area. Walk the Glowworm Tunnel which is notable for its resident glow worms and keep an eye out for kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and koalas. Lyrebirds at Hassan’s Walls lookout and the endangered Purple Copperwing Butterfly that can be seen in the spring. Relax while platypus spotting on one of the river banks or bird watching in the Capertee Valley which is the habitat for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater…just to name a few activities.
Visit natures garden in the wild or within National parks and State forests where magnificent cool climate trees and plants, and animals abound. Lithgow, at 950 m above sea level is a cool climate destination only 150 km from Sydney and the 5th highest town in the Blue Mountains region. Take the Bells line of Road from Sydney, a winding, hilly road which cuts through beautiful bushland and witness the glorious seasonal changes to the surrounding landscape.

Remember to pack your camera to experience and capture our vast natural landscape or by visiting the many smaller private gardens within the region that are open all year round or those offering seasonal open days, in Summer especially when the gardens are at their most colourful!
